Days are not far when mobile bills will rise up sooner .
This is because of the recent Airtel and Vodafone bidding aggressively to bag spectrum in a government auction that assured the cash-strapped exchequer of as much as Rs 61,000 crore.
Those 2 operators will pay 62% of total government collections which is INR 18000 Crore immediately and the rest of the money will have to be paid by them in another 10 year period starting from 2016 .
Rs 18,530 crore for the spectrum acquisition has to beared by Bharti Airtel who complained that shortage of spectrum on offer resulted in "artificial and unrealistic prices" as incumbents were "forced to bid" with such prices.
Companies may cut freebies and discounts to increase their realized tariffs.
