How to Choose the Right Course in College

    Education is now playing a major role in every country’s economic development. The trend is that the more educated the populace is, the lower the unemployment rate would be. Whether we admit it or not, prospective employers are now more concerned with educational attainment of a candidate seeking job placement.


    As early as secondary school, we must already know what course to take up in college. Here are a few ideas to help you choose your lifelong career and give you the competitive edge for a better life in the future.


    1. List down your strengths and weaknesses.

    Capitalize on your strengths and narrow down your weaknesses. Note what subjects you enjoy studying the most and what subjects you dislike or not in tune with your strengths. However, it is important to note whether such likes and dislikes could go long-term because you might change your mind later on.

     

    2. Be aware of the present job trends but don’t just decide based on popularity.

    By mere browsing over the internet or by our daily interaction with society, we have idea what are the latest trends in jobs. Usually, the “hot” jobs assure high salary. Expectedly, people would follow the trend. However, this is sometimes dangerous because what seems to be the trend this year may not be the trend next year.

     

    3. Try some college aptitude tests.

    College aptitude tests are helpful because it opens your eyes to interests and strengths you never thought you possess. Besides, it will provide you with choices as to the career path suited for you.

     

    4. Ask your loved ones and friends for suggestions.

    There is no greater support than coming from the people who know you better than you know yourself. Ask them for suggestions. Heed their advice.

     

    5. Choose the career path that would bring you happiness.

    In every undertaking, it’s our own happiness that matters. So, choose what you think will fulfill your sense of achievement and makes you a better you.
