Satyajit’s Classic “Pather Panchali” screens at Cannes

    As we mentioned that this is the season for 68th Cannes Film Festival and the team has already started the selection of films to be screened this year. It is heard that Satyajit Ray’s “Pather Panchali” which was released in the year 1955 is nominated to be screened at Cannes in Classic films section.

    Sandip Ray’s son of the film maker says, “Pather Panchali will be screened nearly 58 years later at the same festival. The film had won in the Best Human Document category in 1956 at Cannes”. 

    It was heard that Pather Panchali, Aparajito and Apur Sansar are digitally restored and these films are ready for release in all the US theatres to entertain from May 8 this year.

    The 68th Cannes Film Festival is held from May 13 to 24 this year.
